The most amazing thing I saw when I went camping last week was the night sky. It’s amazing what you can’t see at home, even if we are close to the middle of nowhere. (Did I mention we got lost in the dark on Highway 1 - yes, that highway with two lanes and no exits?)
But that’s not quite the point of this post, though I would sorely like to recant that story, but it’s a bit stale from not being remembered until just this moment, when I needed to find some eloquent way to ease into my fan-girl rant about Stardust, long-haired!Charlie Cox, Neil Gaiman - yes, I know I’m mention two men with only a comma between - and my hard work on the site this past week. If I don’t waste too much space typing junk like this, I’ll even throw in glibs from my new SAT class. Let’s take this chronologically, shall we?
Stardust has got to be the best movie in the entire universe, or at least it is for the month of August 2007. I can’t believe they have hardly any screenings for it - we got there 15 min. early and had to sit in the second row. Comedy, romance, ghosts!, adventure, Charlie Cox in a white coat! What more can you ask for? If you haven’t, I recommend you go see it, or at least read the fabulous Gaiman. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. I’m actually quite amazed that I don’t own a copy of the book, so I’ve stuffed it under my growing wishlist tag in the Library.
Speaking of which, I revamped that a few days ago! The single pages are now formatted, authors no longer break the page, and search- gasp! - works. Though doing so made me realize just how many style tags I’ve let loose around the site’s backdrop for all the world to trip over. Quite honestly, I’m too lazy to go about cleaning them up.
I’ve found that I’ve grown more lenient with how my code looks: a bit like my room, actually. Perfectly messy. But it’s not like I can’t find anything, or I even invite other people to come look at it. It doesn’t break the foundation of the house, does it? I mean, the site looks perfectly fine with it in the background, works (even to some extent in IE 6.0 - if that’s not miraculous, I don’t know what it), and validates. Exceptions being those with too many plugins and ajax, such as the contact page. I remember being a complete harpy about these things in my days as a reviewer. It’s probably one of the reasons I’ve never yet submitted darkfaerytale to a review site yet. I really should get around to it…though I may ignore everything they tell me when it comes to my haphazard coding.
I like AJAX. It’s kind of like the growing trend, what with the rise in Web 2.0 sites and all that. Unfortunately, many people have decided to block these things so I don’t dare to use them.
Well, seems like you’ve done a lot of work with your pages and they’re looking good, as opposed to some occasional breaks I encountered a while before.
